Sundargarh: At least 15 passengers were injured, 10 of them critically, when the bus they were travelling by collided head-on with a truck near Yatra Khaman under Tikayatpalli police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday night.
According to reports, a private bus named ‘Anupama’ transported about 30 passengers from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. When the bus was passing through the Khaman area, a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bus head-on. Consequently, the front part of the bus and the truck were completely damaged.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rescued the passengers with the help of local people. The seriously injured passengers were admitted to Bannai Hospital. Some of them were shifted to Rourkela later as their condition deteriorated.
The driver of the truck has been absconding since the accident.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the accident and a search to arrest the absconding truck driver.
