Dhenkanal: In a major crackdown on violations in the mining and stone-crushing sector, the district administration on Monday carried out an extensive rule-enforcement drive across several parts of Dhenkanal district.
The joint operation was led by the Mining Deputy Director and Junior Mining Officer, with active participation from the tehsildars and sub-collectors of Hindol, Dhenkanal and Kamakhyanagar, along with police personnel.
During the drive, authorities sealed 15 stone crushers and 26 stone quarries operating in violation of prescribed norms. The action covered areas under Hindol, Odapada, Gondia and Bhuban tehsils, where multiple units were found flouting regulatory provisions related to mining and stone-crushing activities.
Official sources said the enforcement team inspected several locations, including Karanda, Babandha, Bedapada, Odapada and Nihalprasad, where irregularities were detected. Based on the findings, immediate sealing orders were issued to prevent further illegal operations.
The district administration has also intensified its ongoing campaign against illegal transportation of minor minerals. Parallel checks are being conducted on the storage and handling of explosives used in mining activities, while vehicles suspected of unauthorized mineral transport are being inspected at various points.
Officials indicated that such coordinated enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to ensure strict compliance with mining, environmental and safety regulations across the district.
