Cuttack: As many as 15 students from Ravenshaw University’s East Hostel have been hospitalized with gastroenteritis, a stomach infection causing diarrhoea and vomiting, at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
According to reports, the students fell ill and were rushed to the hospital by their fellow students. The university authorities visited the hospital to assess the situation. The exact cause of the outbreak is unclear, but it is suspected to be linked to contaminated food or water. The district health department has sent a team to investigate and take necessary measures.
A special medical team is treating the affected students in the casualty ward of Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Upon receiving the news, Ravenshaw University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Nayak and former MLA Prabhat Ranjan Biswal visited the hospital to meet the students undergoing treatment.
