Jharsuguda: Police have recovered the body of the 15-year-old boy who was kidnapped from Krishna Apartment in the Sarbahal area of the town on March 27 and apprehended two persons in this connection including the mastermind.
“We have apprehended two persons on the intervening night of March 28 and 29. The accused persons have been identified as Amit Kumar Sharma and Dinesh Agarwal,” informed Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas addressing a presser here today.
The SP said that the police on March 27 had received a report that a 15-year-old boy had gone missing at around 3.30 PM.
The missing boy’s father received a call at around 8.30 PM on the same day and the caller had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for releasing the child, the SP added.
Parmar Smit told that after receiving the report three special teams of the police were formed to trace the missing boy and conduct a proper investigation of the case.
“With the help of special teams, scanning of CCTV footage, other electronic evidence and information from the neighbouring district and on the intervening night of 28-29 night we got some clues and were able to locate and apprehend the accused persons,” said Parmar Smit sharing on how the police zeroed-in on the accused persons.
He said that during interrogation the police has come to know that the accused Amit Kumar Sharma was close to the family of the missing boy.
Since Sharma was known to the victim the latter did not suspect foul play and accompanied him, he added.
The SP said that the accused persons murdered the boy on the night of the intervening night of March 27-28 towards early morning and disposed of the body in Bargarh district.
He, however, said that the police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
