Bhubaneswar: Mancheswar police on Thursday arrested 16 persons of the Padmakesharipur area in two separate cases of vandalism.
The accused persons have been forwarded to court following their arrest.
According to the police, the accused persons have been identified as Naba Das (33), Miren Das (30), Tutu Das (43), Siku Das (29), Nirmalya Das (31), Manguli Das (35), Nibasa Das (24), Kanhu Das (26), Dusmanta Das (43), Srikanta Das (20), Deepak Das (45), Santosh Das (20), Solakha Das (21), Mukendra Das (26), Parameswar Das (35) and Chaitanya Das (38).
All the accused persons are natives of Padmakesharipur village under Mancheswar police station limits.
On September 1 and 2 both the complainants over previous enmity had allegedly forcibly entered into the houses of the opposite parties, indulged in hurling abuses at family members, damaged household goods by resorting to vandalism and outraged the modesty of women. The complainants also stole money from the houses of the opposite parties.
Following an investigation into the matter police arrested the accused persons. The accused have confessed their crimes, police said in a press statement.
