Bhubaneswar: The Women and Child Welfare Department organized the State Level Nari Shakti Samabesh at Bali Jatra ground in Cuttack to mark the one-year anniversary of the state government. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the meeting as the chief guest, who emphasised the importance of respecting women and empowering them to develop the state’s potential.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s flagship scheme, Subhadra Yojana, as a significant initiative for women’s empowerment, which has brought about a transformative change in the lives of women across Odisha. He mentioned that over 16 lakh women have become “Lakshapati Didis” under this scheme, and the state has achieved an all-time record in providing business opportunities worth Rs. 3,695 crore to self-help groups.

“This Subhadra aid is a long journey of making women financially self-reliant. To make women financially self-reliant, Prime Minister Modi Ji had designed the ‘Lakshapati Didi’ scheme. It is a matter of happiness for our state, especially for the mothers of our state, that Odisha is now at first place in the whole of India in creating “Lakshapati Didi”, Majhi said.

The government has also refunded interest of about Rs. 300 crore to over 3.07 lakh self-help groups, enabling them to realize their financial dreams. Additionally, the Chief Minister Sampurna Pushti Yojana (MSPY) aims to provide nutritious food for a healthy future for women and children.

Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Bardhan Singh Deo and Parvati Parida also addressed the gathering, calling upon the people to take a resolution to build a developed, prosperous, and proud Odisha. The event included the launch of a coffee table book showcasing the state’s progress and the felicitation of women who have made outstanding contributions through the Women Empowerment Department.

The Chief Minister assured that the government is committed to women’s empowerment, allocating Rs. 89,861 crore in the budget for women’s welfare. He expressed confidence that Odisha will become a model state in women’s empowerment, inspiring other states.
