Bhubaneswar: As many as 17 platoons of policemen will be deployed for the smooth conduct of the immersion ceremony of idols of goddess Durga in Bhubaneswar tomorrow.
“Three committees have been formed for the smooth conduct of the immersion ceremony. Each committee has been issued a separate route chart for carrying the idols from the pandals to artificial ponds dug up on the riverbeds outside the city,” informed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhubaneswar Prateek Singh.
Emphasis has been laid to prevent traffic snarls, while sound from loudspeakers/DJs has been restricted to up to a maximum of 65 decibels.
The DCP said that three Addl. DCPs will supervise the operation for an incident-free immersion ceremony.
As many as four artificial ponds have been dug on the riverbeds of Kuakhai and Daya for immersion of the idols, sources in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
