17-Year-Old Student Swept Away In Rusikulya River In Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: A tragic incident occurred in the Dharakot block of Ganjam district, when a 17-year-old student was swept away by the strong currents of the Rusikulya river.

Shubham Kumar Pradhan, a second-year student at Vedavyas College in Berhampur, had gone to bathe in the river near his village, Podapali, around 9 am.

According to eyewitnesses, Shubham’s leg suddenly slipped, and he was carried away by the river’s strong currents. Despite immediate search efforts by fire service personnel in the presence of Dharakot Tehsildar and police, no trace of Shubham has been found yet.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Dharakot area, with locals expressing grief and sadness over the tragic event. Fire tenders are continuing their search operation to locate Shubham.
