Bhubaneswar: As many as 17,365 workers have died in the last three financial years-2019-20 to 2021-22 out of the workers registered with Odisha Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Odisha Unorganised Worker’s Social Security Board, informed Srikanta Sahu, Minister Labour and Employees’ State Insurance in a written reply to a question from BJD MLA from Salipur Prashant Behera.
Their nominees and heirs have been provided with death benefits amounting to a total of Rs 272.18 crore during the aforementioned time period, Sahu added.
Again in the three years and half years–2019, 2020, 2021 and up to June 2022, a total of 151 workers have died and 149 were injured in accidents at different factories across the State.
