Bhubaneswar: More than 50 per cent of the women who went missing in Odisha in the last five years from 2017 to 2021 remain untraceable.
As per data shared by Minister of State (MoS) for Home Tusharkanti Behera in the State Assembly today in a written reply to a question by Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, a total of 40,562 women went missing in the State during the period from 2017 to 2021 and out of them 17,740 have been rescued during the same period.
Similarly, out of the total of 11,278 minor girls who went missing in the last five years from 2017 to 2021, as many as 9,207 have been rescued, the MoS said.
Therefore, 2,071 minor girls or 18.36 per cent who went missing remain untraceable.
The MoS informed that a total of 2110 minor boys were reported missing during the five-year period between 2017 and 2021 and out of them 1,776 have been rescued.
