Bhubaneswar: 177th State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) was held today under the chairmanship of Anu Garg, Development Commissioner Cum Additional Chief Secretary (DC-cum ACS) to Odisha government and V.N. Kamble, Executive Director UCO Bank.
Garg, in her address, highlighted the need for accelerated momentum of credit flow to priority sectors like Agriculture, MSME, Housing, Education and Export sector in alignment with the goals for Vikshit Odisha by 2036 and contributing substantially to Vikshit Bharat by 2047.
Development Commissioner cum ACS emphasized minimising the regional imbalance in terms of credit flow to all segments of the society including women, SC & ST and physically challenged people.
She also urged the bankers to provide timely and adequate loans to good quality proposals to reduce NPA in the banking sector. DC cum ACS laid stress on the ease of banking services to encourage the common people to approach the banks instead of other unregulated entities for meeting their banking needs.
DC-cum ACS Anu Garg urged all banks to extend a higher quantum of credit to improve the credit-to-GSDP ratio of the State at par with the national level. Development Commissioner while praising RBI’s proactive initiatives to promote financial literacy campaign also advised for IEC, process re-engineering for a simplified procedure of loan approval and minimum time lag between loan sanction and setting up enterprises.
Executive Director, UCO Bank appreciated the bankers for achieving 49.34% of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) target as of 30th September and urged them to put concerted efforts to achieve 100% ACP (Rs. 2.11 lakh crore) for the FY 2024-25.
Regional Director, RBI advised all banks to ask for minimum required documents for sanction of loans in a time-bound manner. Pr. Secretary, Finance, Sri Saswat Mishra emphasised improving performance by private sector banks in Govt. sponsored schemes like PMEGP, PM Mudra, Stand up India, and PM SVANIdhi. He also asked the SLBC convenor to provide claim settlement statistics in social security schemes like PMJJBY and PMSBY.
CGM of SBI Dinesh Purthi, Gautam Patra, convenor of SLBC, senior officials of State and Central Government, NABARAD and Regional Controlling Heads of all banks were also present in the meeting.
