Bhubaneswar: Elaborate police arrangements have been made for the upcoming world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings in Puri.

As many as 180 platoons of policemen will be deployed for Rath Yatra.

“Police arrangement for Rath Yatra has been prepared. We will deploy 180 platoons of police force and senior officers have been assigned with different responsibilities. They already conducted reviews. I too have conducted two reviews. We have made all security arrangements, and police bandobast to ensure a smooth and peaceful Rath Yatra,” informed DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi after attending the State-level review meeting for Rath Yatra at Puri.

The Coast Guard will be deploying boats and helicopter to patrol the coastline.

“The Coast Guard has agreed to our request to patrol the coast. They will be deploying boats and helicopter for patrolling the coast. This apart will deploy bomb disposal squads, four anti-sabotage check teams and sniffer dog squads to thwart any possible sabotage,” Sarangi added.

He said since President Droupadi Murmu will be visiting Puri, security arrangements have been made as per protocol and provisions of the Blue Book.

“Arrangements have been made for her carcade, place of stay and place of function. The President’s helicopter will land at Samang and her carcade will first come to Raj Bhavan and on the same day (Rath Yatra day) she will visit Sri Mandir for darshan. We have made all arrangements for that,” he added.
