Bhubaneswar: Over 18,000 individuals have been issued with Arms licences in Odisha.
Replying to a question by Congress MLA from Jeypore Taraprasad Bahinipati in the Odisha Assembly today, Minister of State (MoS) for Home Tusharkanti Behera said that a total of 18,268 individuals have been issued with Arms Licence in the state.
As per data shared by the MoS in his reply, while the highest number of individuals issued with Arms Licences are in Keonjhar district-1327, followed by 1203 in Angul, Balasore-1155, Dhenkanal-1126, only 11 individuals have been issued with Arms Licence in Malkangiri district.
Behera informed that Arms Licence is issued to an individual for personal security, sports and target practice, and for providing security to bank property by the District Collector on the basis of the report of the Superintendent of Police.
