Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Saturday informed the Assembly that while a large number of Subhadra Shakti Kendras have been approved across the state, only a portion of them are currently functional.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida shared the details in a written reply to a question raised by Jeypore MLA and Congress leader Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
According to the reply, 1,888 Gram Panchayat-level Subhadra Shakti Kendras have been approved so far. Although construction work has been completed for 78 centres, none of them have become functional yet.
At the block level, 338 Subhadra Shakti Kendras have been sanctioned. Of these, 322 centres have completed construction, and 309 are already functional, making the block tier the most operationally active level under the scheme.
Similarly, 30 district-level Subhadra Shakti Kendras have been approved across Odisha. Construction is complete in 13 of these, out of which 8 centres are currently functional.
Responding to the query, the Deputy Chief Minister added that in the undivided Koraput district, 39 block-level Subhadra Shakti Kendras are functional.
The reply also indicated a shift in nomenclature, with the government referring to the facilities as Subhadra Shakti Kendras , replacing the earlier term Mission Shakti Kendras mentioned in the MLA’s question.
