Bhubaneswar: The forest department rescued a 19-foot-long adult Indian rock python that had wandered into Rajendra Narayanpur village near Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, on Friday.
According to reports, the large snake had moved from the protected forest area of the park into a nearby cropland.
After the locals spotted the venomous snake, they immediately alerted the forest officials, who quickly arrived to rescue it.
“We have successfully rescued a massive injured snake, which is now receiving specialised care and treatment from veterinarians at Bhitarkanika’s wildlife enclosure. Following its recovery, the snake will be safely released back into its natural habitat. Remarkably, this is the largest snake rescue operation undertaken by our team to date,” said Divisional Forest Officer.
