19-Year-Old Tushar’s Body Found Near Mahanadi Barrage, Family Alleges Murder

Cuttack: The family of Tusharkant Sahoo, a 19-year-old student, whose body was recovered from Mahanadi barrage in Jobra on Thursday, alleged that he has been murdered. Tushar’s father Hrushikesh Sahoo said he suspects the involvement of the former’s friends in this act.

“I have lost my only son. I am sure that he was taken away by his friends and murdered near Mahanadi. If I do not get justice, I have no option left than committing suicide. I urge the police to conduct a thorough probe and nab the persons involved in Tushar’s death,” said Hrushikesh, sobbing.

“The deceased was a student of Plus II in Christ College in the city. His sister Poonam said, there was a love angle linked to Tushar’s death. I have screenshots of ‘him’ threatening my brother of dire consequences. This is a planned murder,” she alleged.

DCP Prateek Singh said, “Tushar’s scooter was recovered from near Dhabaleswar bridge while his body was spotted by Jagatpur police. The body has been sent for autopsy and a case of unnatural death has been registered. The investigation is in progress.”
