2 Arms Traffickers Arrested In Cuttack, Firearms, Ammunition Seized

Cuttack: Commissionerate Police in Cuttack today arrested two anti-socials involved in illegal arms trafficking.

The accused are Muna Rao and Soubhagya Das alias Bablu.

Police have recovered a country-made pistol, a country-made single-shot gun, a magazine and 2 rounds of live ammunition from their possession.

Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh said Malgodown police station staff got a tip-off that two antisocials involved in arms trafficking were moving suspiciously in the area and are searching for buyers to sell arms.

“Upon receiving the information, IIC Malgodown and his team acted immediately and detained these two persons. A 9 mm country-made pistol, a single-shot country-made gun, a magazine and live ammunition have been recovered from their possession,” said Singh briefing reporters here today.

The accused have been identified as Munna Rao, a resident of Pareshwar Sahi and Soubhagya Das alias Bablu, Singh added.

He said both Rao and Das have been arrested.

The DCP stated that while Rao has three cases against including under Arms Act, antecedents of Das are being verified.

He said that a case has been registered at the Malgodown police station under section 25(1A), 1AA of the Arms Act.

Both are being forwarded to court, he added.
