Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police in Cuttack have arrested two persons in connection with the brutal murder of a woman B. Gunavati of Kuttakhai Lane of Odia Bazaar under Lalbag police limits on July 15.
The accused have been identified as Y. Sunil and Y. Sudip. They are siblings. They have confessed before the police to have committed the murder.
“The accused have confessed to the crime. According to their confessional statement, they owed Rs 90,000 to the family of the main conspirator. Since over a period of time they had failed to repay the amount in time, the main conspirator’s family was repeatedly demanding Rs 2.5 lakh from them. The main conspirator had given this offer to them against the repayment of the loan. Later they committed the crime,” informed Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra briefing reporters here today.
The DCP said that the police have evidence and their confessional statement.
“We have arrested them and we are also interrogating the other actors involved in this crime. The cause of the murder was to obtain the laptop which contained some obscene pictures of the main conspirator’s family member with the deceased’s son,” Mishra further informed.
