Balasore/Khallikote: Over Rs 9 lakh was looted in two daylight robberies by armed miscreants in Balasore and Ganjam district of Odisha on Monday.
Reportedly, the cashier of a private company was shot at by two bike-borne miscreants and robbed of Rs 3.2 lakh at Khannagar under Sadar police limits of Balasore district.
The cashier Ashok Jena accompanied by company security was on his way to deposit the money at the nearest bank when the miscreants open fired at them.
Jena sustained bullet injuries in his left leg. He has been admitted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Meanwhile, police have initiated a probe into the incident.
In the second incident, three employees of a resort were robbed of Rs 6 lakh at gunpoint near the school at Bhejiput village under Khallikote police limits of Ganjam district.
The three were in a car on their way to deposit the money in a bank when three bike-borne miscreants intercepted the vehicle and looted the money at gunpoint.
On getting information, police reached the spot and have initiated a probe into the incident. Tension is prevailing in the area as similar loot incidents have been reported recently.
