Bhubaneswar: At least two devotees fell unconscious after getting trapped in a stampede-like situation at Singhadwar of Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri. The two, a woman from Hatagadia Sahi in Puri district and a minor girl from Pithapur area in Cuttack, were admitted to the district headquarters hospital in Puri.
The incident took place when the crowd inside the temple rushed to witness the ‘Mangala Arti’ as soon as the Singhadwar was opened. Puri Collector Samarth Verma visited the temple and enquired about the health of the injured devotees at the district headquarters hospital.
According to reports, the temple’s gate was opened a bit late today morning because the Makar Sankranti rituals took a long time on Saturday night.
