Baripada: The Additional District & Sessions Judge Court here today awarded life imprisonment to two persons for murder in Mayurbhanj district.
The court sentenced Raju Singh and Laba Singh to undergo life imprisonment for the murder of Ramesh Singh of Khuntapur under Baisinga police limits of Mayurbhanj district in 2020.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each them. On failure to pay the fine Raju and Laba have to undergo imprisonment for another six months. The court pronounced the judgment after examining 16 witnesses and 19 documents.
According to the proceedings of the case, on December 7, 2020 one Sanjukta Singh of Khuntapur under Baisinga police limits had informed the police that Raju and Laba had slit her father Ramesh Singh’s throat using a scythe leading to his instantaneous death on the spot.
Following the complaint, Raju and Laba were arrested by the police and forwarded to court.
