Berhampur: At least two persons were killed and three others injured in lightning strikes in two separate incidents in Patrapur block in Ganjam district today. The dead include a minor boy.
According to reports, Hari Gouda and Kedar Gouda of Mandarda village under Patrapur block had gone to graze their goats. Suddenly, there was a thunderstorm, Hari and Kedar took shelter under a tree when lightning struck them. While Hari was killed, Kedar was critically injured.
Similarly, Rupa Sabar, a minor boy of Madukabada village under Patrapur block was killed in a lightning strike following a sudden thunderstorm while he and two others were plucking mangoes from a tree. The other two have been critically injured in the lightning strike.
The injured have been admitted to the Government Hospital at Patrapur.
