Paradip: Two fishermen were killed as a boat carrying of them capsized near Mahanadi’s river mouth, today at Paradip. Another person, who is said to be in a critical state, is under treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Bidu Bhusan Maiti (49) and Guruchand Rai (44).
As per reports, the group was on its way when their boat lost balance due to strong tide and winds due to low pressure and monsoon. They tried to anchor the boat but the rope snapped, said one of the survivors Jaydev Manna.
The boat capsized, taking 15 of them with it. Fishermen nearby saved them, apart from two who met their watery death.
All of the fishermen involved in the accident belong to Bijayachandrapur under Paradip Adarsh police station limits.
