Kalahandi: On Wednesday, two persons were killed and 13 critically injured in a road accident in Dhulu Ghati under the Jayapatna block of Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the driver of a pick-up van lost balance on the wheel and plunged 40 feet into a gorge along the Ghati road. A woman and the driver died on the spot, while eight injured persons were admitted to Jaipatna Hospital. Another 5 injured were admitted to the Nabarangpur District Hospital and later shifted to the Tentali Khunti Hospital.
On being informed, police arrived at the accident spot and rescued the injured. According to the police, 12 people from Yatat Timanpur village and two others from Gudra were travelling by the pick-up van to Jaipatna when the mishap occurred.
