Dhenkanal: Two persons were killed and four others were critically injured when a tractor overturned at Surapratappur under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, some villagers of Surapratappur had gone to the nearby forest in a tractor to collect firewood for the ‘astaprahari’ (religious function) in their village. While they were returning from the forest after collecting firewood, the tractor overturned midway.
On being informed about the accident, villagers rushed to the spot to carry out a rescue operation.
While two of the injured were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Mathakargola, the other four were taken to the CHC at Bhuban.
One of the injured identified as Prafulla Kumar Samal (44) was declared dead by the attending doctors at Mathakargola CHC, while Harihar Samal (65) was declared dead by the doctors at Bhuban CHC.
Critically injured Raja Puhan (15), Umashankar Raul (14) and Jaladhar Swain 65) have been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack.
