Bhubaneswar: Two people were killed and seven others injured in a road accident late Tuesday night at Gaundisar village under Model Police Station in Boudh district.
The deceased have been identified as Gajendra Mallick and his daughter, Lipsa Mallick. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Boudh.
According to reports, the victims were returning home from a wedding in a nearby village when their motorcycle collided head-on with another two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction near Gaundisar. The impact of the collision led to the fatal incident.
On being informed, a team from the Model Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation into the matter. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the next of kin of the deceased. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the mishap.
