Bhubaneswar: At least two persons including a woman were killed and eight others were injured when the auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling turned turtle near Panisal on the Ranipathar ghat road on the Boudh-Kandhamal district border at 3 o’clock in the afternoon today.
The deceased persons who died on the spot have been identified as Kumari Kanhar (50) and Gura Majhi (50) of Lukapada village in Karanjakata panchayat, reports said.
Fire Service personnel and 108 Ambulance staff rescued the injured and rushed them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Puruna Katak.
The villagers were going to watch Thakurani Jatra when the mishap took place, reports added.
Local police have launched an investigation of the accident.
In a separate incident, a 4-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a Bolero at Dantilingi village under Surada police limits in Ganjam district today. The deceased boy’s mother and sister have been also seriously injured in the accident.
