Rupra (Kalahandi): A youth and a child were killed on Tuesday after the bike in which they were travelling hit a tree on the roadside near Alim village under Narla block in Kalahandi district.
The deceased have been identified as Debraj Bhoi (22) and Abhay Dora (15).
According to reports, the accident occurred while Debraj and Abhay were returning home after visiting Palam. Both Debraj and Abhay died on the spot when their bike hit a roadside tree a little distance away from their homes.
On being informed Palam police outpost officer Akshay Prasad Patnaik rushed to the spot and called for an ambulance. However, before the ambulance could reach the spot, both Debraj and Abhay had died. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kesinga. But they were declared ‘brought dead’ by the attending doctors at the CHC.
Police have seized the bodies for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom has descended on Alim village following the tragic accident.
