Kamakshyanagar: A biker and his pillion rider were killed on Friday when the bike on which they were travelling had a head-on collision with a truck near Mundeilo village chhak on national highway no. 53 under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Mamud Sahu of Kantur village under Parjang police limits of Dhenkanal district and Tapas Kumar Maharana of Dhaipur village under Athagarh police limits of Cuttack district.
While Tapas was travelling on his bike towards Talcher from Athagarh, at Dihadol Chhak Mamud asked for a lift and rode pillion.
Near Mundeilo Chhak, a coal-laden truck coming from Talcher end hit the bike head-on in which Tapas and Mamud were travelling.
Both Tapas and Mamud were grievously hurt and were lying on the spot after the accident. They were rescued by the local people and shifted to the Sub Divisional Hospital here through 108 Ambulance service.
However, both were declared dead by the attending doctors.
