Bhubaneswar: Director Health and Family Welfare and State Nodal Officer (Immunisation) Dr Bijay Panigrahi today informed that at least 2 lakh persons will be vaccinated per day in the State from April 1 (Thursday).
Vaccination of citizens in the age group, 45 years and above will begin across India from April. Dr Panigrahi said the rate of vaccination is less in Angul, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Nabarangpur and Nuapada districts.
At present there are total 17 lakh doses of vaccine left. Odisha had received 40 lakh doses out of which 23 lakh have been administered. The State will receive another 9,88,250 doses of vaccine on April 2, he added.
“Vaccine wastage in Odisha is 0.2 per cent of volume which is very less compared to other States,” Dr Panigrahi added.
