Phulbani: Forest department officials on Saturday seized two leopard and three barking deer skins and arrested six persons in this connection.
The accused persons include two wildlife traders and four poachers. Forest department officials have also seized a country-made gun, two catapults, bows and arrows, snares and a motorcycle from their possession.
The accused persons identified as Dhaneswar Nayak, Sarat Mallik, Gourang Mallik, Sadanand Kanhar, Santosh Mallik, and Bibhasra Mallik have been forwarded to court, informed Phulbani DFO Prashant Patel.
As per reports, acting on a tip-off Forest department officials late on July 16th night captured two wildlife traders Dhaneswar Nayak and Sarat Mallik Linepada-Beheragaon road while they travelling on a bike and seized two leopard skins from their possession.
Later on, quizzing them, they revealed about involvement of four poachers who were also arrested and three barking deer skins were seized from them.
