Koraput: At least two Maoists have been killed on Friday in an exchange of fire between Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans and the former in the Malipadar forested area in Gupteswar panchayat under Boipariguda block of Koraput district.
The death of two Maoists in the Malipadar forest has been confirmed by DIG South-Western Range Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao.
During a combing operation past midnight today, SOG jawans discovered a camp with over 20 Maoists in Malipadar forested area.
The ultras fired at the combing party forcing the latter to fire in return, police sources said
While in the exchange of fire with SOG jawans two Red rebels have been killed, huge cache of Maoist articles have been seized, reports said. Security forces have seized the bodies of the killed Maoists and sent those for autopsy.
Police and BSF personnel have rushed to the spot and while the search operation has been intensified, the DIG South-Western Range further informed.
