Bhubaneswar: Jajpur police on Wednesday arrested another two persons who were involved in attacking journalists during the panchayat polls. They were identified as Sridhar Mallick alias Syria and Sanjay Malik alias Chagala, both natives of Bamdebpur village.
Binjharpur police have arrested a total 19 persons in this case so far. The duo, Syria and Chagala were forwarded to the court following their arrest.
Three journalists, Debashis Sahoo, Gulshan Ali Nawaz and Bijay Sahoo were beaten while they were covering an incident of booth rigging when the third phase of three-tier rural polls was underway in the Binjharpur.
The incident, which was captured on a camera, took place at Bachol in Bamdevpur under Binjharpur police limits on February 20. Including these two, a total 44 persons have been arrested in Jajpur over their alleged involvement in panchayat poll violence.
