Puri: Violence struck the holy city of Puri once again today after a stabbing incident near the north gate of Shree Jagannath Temple left a man and his nephew seriously injured.
The victims, identified as Gaurang Sahu and Santosh Kumar Sahu, were attacked around 3:30 PM when a group of miscreants arrived on a motorcycle and assaulted them with knives. The attackers fled the spot immediately after the assault.
Alerted by the incident, personnel from Singhadwar police station rushed to the scene, rescued the injured, and admitted them to the district headquarters hospital for treatment. Following a complaint, the police have launched an investigation and begun a search operation to nab the culprits.
The brazen attack in a crowded area in broad daylight has once again raised concerns over law and order in Puri. Locals have expressed alarm, pointing out that similar violent incidents have occurred in the city in the past as well.
Police officials assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the absconding accused at the earliest.
