Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident this morning, three members of a family were killed on the spot following a head-on collision between a dumper and an auto-rickshaw.
Among the three deceased, two were reportedly women and a child.
Reports said that the fatal road accident took near Gopalmal Chhak along the Manamunda-Kantamal road stretch in the district here.
While the identities of the three deceased had not been ascertained till the filing of this report, another critically injured, stated to be the auto-rickshaw driver, was reportedly rushed to the nearby hospital.
The passenger vehicle was found in a mangled state on the spot.
As per reports, the dumper rammed into the auto-rickshaw and overturned on the roadside farmland while its driver was reportedly absconding from the mishap site.
However, the dumper was found to be laden with bitumen for road construction purpose and its registration number as evident from the rear part is OR-31-2223.
