Baripada: Two women were killed and four others were injured in a deadly accident on Saturday when a iron ore laden truck rammed into the car in which they were travelling from the rear on the on Dwarasuni ghat road on national highway no. 49 near Bangiriposhi in Mayurbhanj district.
The injured have been admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bangriposhi.
According to reports, on the occasion of Durga Puja a family from Kharagpur area of West Bengal had come to offer puja at the Maa Dwarasuni Temple. They were returning in the car when the accident happened.
The car while passing by the side of a truck which had met with an accident had to stop on seeing a truck coming from the opposite direction. Another truck loaded with iron ore coming from rear rammed into the car. The two women who were seating in the rear seat of the car were crushed to death under the impact of the collision. Two men and two children who were in the front seat were lucky to have a narrow escape from death.
On being informed Fire Service and police personnel reached the spot and after rescuing the injured rushed them to the CHC at Bangriposhi.
Police have seized the accident causing truck while the driver has managed to flee the spot.
