Berhampur: Over 20 persons were injured when an autorickshaw plunged about 30 feet down after it skidded off the road on Bankeswari ghat in Digapahandi block of Ganjam district on Tuesday.
Locals after rescuing the injured rushed them to the Government Hospital at Digapahandi by ambulances. Eight of them who were critically injured have been shifted to MKCG Medical College & Hospital.
According to reports, the accident occurred while the autorickshaw was descending on the ghat road after its occupants hailing from Karadakana village near Sheragada were returning home after having darshan of goddess Bankeswari.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
