Jajpur: At least 20 passengers were injured when a private bus overturned at Mulapal Chhak on National Highway-16 in Jajpur district on Sunday evening.
The mishap occurred around 8 pm when the bus ‘Swasti Ratha’ was en route from Cuttack to Bari town.
According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Kuakhia market, causing it to overturn and trap several passengers inside.
On being informed, personnel from the Kuakhia Police Station and Fire Department reached the spot, rescued the trapped passengers, and shifted the injured to Madhuban Community Health Centre and Dharmasala Community Health Centre for treatment.
The condition of several passengers is reported to be stable. Meanwhile, the bus driver fled the scene and is currently absconding.
