Bhubaneswar: As many as 20 residents of Rajendra Vihar apartment have tested positive for COVID-19 following which the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday declared the affected area as containment zone.
“The residents said it was local contact. The BMC is continuing with contact tracing activity. Besides, tests for Covid-19 is being done extensively, as a mandate to check further spread of COVID-19 in the area,” a BMC official said.
The apartment comes under Ward No. 52 of the BMC and is located in Forest Park area of the city. According to the BMC, there are more than 300 residents in the apartment.
The Corporation has restricted public movement and asked the residents to stay indoors. The locality has a commercial complex therefore all the shopping establishment ‘of whatsoever nature’ have been shut with immediate effect.
“All the Government and private institutions located within the boundary of the containment zone is hereby closed forthwith. BMC will supply essentials and ensure medical requirements for the inhabitant in the containment zones,” the official added.
