Koraput: In his first ever election campaign in Odisha after the announcement of polling dates by the Election Commission of India, BJP’s poster boy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the voters to vote for double engine governments led by BJP in both the Centre and the State so that development can be materialized.

Addressing the gathering at Jeypore-based Ekamba Bankabija Ground here in the tribal-dominated district, Modi said, “2019 election is not of a single legislator. It is an election for having double engine of development in both the Centre and State and voting BJP government to power at both the ends. It is an election for making new Odisha and new Bharat (India) in the next five years.”

“Odisha will turn strong then when the tribals, farmers and youths of this State will move forward. When there will be governments led by BJP both at the Centre and the State, this dream will come true. When Sabka Saath Sabka Bikash will be materialized, then only Odisha will get strengthened, eastern India will get strengthened, entire India will get strengthened,” he stated.

Modi also claimed, “This sevak has been able to provide 8 lakh poor families of Odisha with pucca houses. Through Ujjwala Yojana, 40 lakh households of Odisha have been provided with gas stoves and freed them from the troublesome smoke. 3,000 villages have been provided with electricity connection free of cost.”

He asserted, “The credit for my successful governance in the last five years goes to the people and voters of India. Also the credit goes to the people and voters of Odisha.”

He further claimed, “New rail division has been created in Rayagada. Also expansion of rail line is being under progress from Nabarangpur to Malkangiri. Also attention is being paid so that there would no paucity of funds for the rural road network.”

Initiating his speech uttering ‘Jai Jagannath’, Modi paid homage to Saheed Laxman Nayak.

Prior to that, this year’s Padma Shri awardee Kamala Pujari offered him on the dais a handwoven traditional tribal hat made of palm-leaf and Modi expressed his gratefulness for her blessings on the sacred soil as well as the auspicious occasion of Saheed Laxman Nayak’s supreme sacrifice day.
