**Bhubaneswar:** Odisha Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education, Usha Devi on Friday revealed that 21 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) will be established in the State in 2017-18.
The Minister revealed this while addressing a press conference here as a part of Odisha Government’s media interaction programme.
Speaking on the achievements of her department, she said, “We had 23 ITI in the State with 3,656 seats in year 2000-01. In 12016-17, the number increased to 48 with a strength of 28,906. Along with that, 21 new ITI’s are in the pipeline to be established in 2017-18.”
Answering a question, Sanjay Singh, Commissioner-Cum-Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education Department informed, “Around 4 lakh 70 thousand students have been included in various skill development programmes in the State by now. Out of these students, at least 70 thousands have been employed through campus placements.
