Bhubaneswar: A whopping 79% (182) out of the 229 new Covid-19 positive cases reported from Bhubaneswar in the last 24 hours till 9 AM today is local contact cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has informed through a tweet this afternoon.
The remaining 47 new positive cases are quarantine cases, it added.
Two Covid patients in the city have succumbed to the disease during the same period with it the death toll due to corona in the Odisha capital mounted to 142.
Out of the total 27,670 Covid-19 positive cases detected from the city so far, 2749 are active cases. With another 308 recovering from the disease in the last 24 hours from the city, the total number of persons to been cured of Covid stands at 24758.
While 13 local contact cases have been reported from Rasulgarh, Patia has reported 12 cases.
Similarly, Chandrasekharpur and Hanspal have reported 09 local contact cases each.
Besides, 07 local contact cases have been Saheed Nagar, 11 cases from Laxmisagar, 06 cases each from IRC Village, Nayapalli and Old Town, and 05 cases from Sailashree Vihar.
Other areas have reported local contact cases on a scale of 04-01.
