Sundergarh: In a major crackdown, the Raghunathpali police on Sunday seized 23,200 explosive materials that were being smuggled illegally in a mini-truck near Balughat area in Rourkela.
Two persons have been detained in connection with the seizure. The accused have been identified as Srabana Agarwal (owner of an explosive warehouse) and the truck driver.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the vehicle and recovered 116 boxes containing the explosives.
According to sources, the explosives were being transported without valid documents and were allegedly intended for unauthorized use.
Following the seizure, the Raghunathpali police took both persons into custody and began an intensive interrogation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by the Additional Superintendent of Police also visited the police station and initiated a detailed probe into the incident.
