Keonjhar: Normal life was hit in Odisha’s Keonjhar district since 6.00 am on Monday due to a 24-hour bandh call given by the Keonjhar Keonjhar Truck Owners Association. As many as 15 associations, including the local bus owners and merchants’ associations, have supported the bandh call.
The bandh has been called against the proposed railway line project from the OMC mines in Keonjhar Suakati to Gohaldihi railway siding. As a result, the bandh supporters have disrupted the movement of trains in this section by sitting on the railway tracks. The band protagonists apprehend that once the railway project becomes operational, it will hit the truck services in the region severely.
All business establishments and educational institutions in Keonjhar district remained closed for the day in support of the bandh call. Public transport was also off the road. The district administration has deployed a large police force to avoid any untoward incident during the bandh.
