Bhubaneswar: School & Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash today informed the members of Odisha Legislative Assembly that 2417 headmaster posts are lying vacant in the State-run high schools while the number of vacant posts of teachers is 8498.
Replying to a query made by BJD MLA Prasanta Kumar Jagadev, the Minister apprised the House that the vacant posts of headmaster and teacher are in the Government Girls’ High Schools across the State while in the Aided High Schools, the vacancy figure is 430.
The vacant posts of teacher in the aided high schools are 2543.
On the position of the vacant posts of clerk, the Minister informed that the figure in the Government Girls High School is 1711 while in the Aided High Schools it is 163.
He further apprised the House that all steps have been taken to fill up the vacant posts of headmaster on promotion (Senior SES) basis, but the matter is sub judice in the court of law.
On the teacher’s vacancy in the Government High Schools, the Minister informed the House that the process for filling up the T.G posts is on progress by appointing contractual teachers while the DEOs have been asked for the up-to-date vacancy report on the other posts of teachers in the respective districts. After receipt of the report, steps will be taken to fill up the vacant posts of other teachers.
So far the vacant posts of the clerks are concerned, they are being filled up under the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) and OSSSC.
“In order to fill up the vacant posts of Aided High Schools, the matter is under consideration of the State Government,” the School & Mass Education Minister told the House.
