Bhubaneswar: As many as 245 elephants have died in Odisha during the last three years. The highest number of deaths was reported in 2021-22. As many as six elephants died due to poaching, Forest, Environment & Climate Change Minister Pradip Kumar Amat said in the Odisha Assembly today. Responding to a question by Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja, Amat said that 47 persons have been arrested during this period. As many as 39 tusks, one tiger skin and a tiger nail have been seized from their possession.
