Jeypore (Koraput): In a strict action against noise pollution, the Jeypore town police on Sunday seized 25 Bullet motorcycles that were fitted with modified silencers, taking action against their owners under the Motor Vehicles Act.
According to Jeypore Town Police IIC Ullas Chandra Rout, the bikes were causing considerable disturbance to local residents due to the loud noise produced by the modified exhausts.
“We formed a special team to monitor such violations. Today, we seized 25 Bullets and removed the modified silencers. The owners will be fined under the Motor Vehicles Act once the bikes are refitted with silencers as per manufacturer specifications, after which the vehicles will be released,” he said.
The police have urged vehicle owners to adhere to legal standards for silencers to prevent disturbance and ensure public safety.
