Bhubaneswar: The Housing and Urban Development Department has decided to complete 25,000 water harvesting projects by June 15. Director, Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak said, rooftop and open area water harvesting projects will be undertaken in 1,999 wards across Odisha.
Till today, 22,089 projects sites have been identified in 1,800 wards. This apart, the maintenance of water harvesting projects carried out last year will be given priority. Nayak said the purpose of the projects is to preserve rainwater and recharge groundwater. He chaired a meeting with senior officials on this matter today.
The status of implementation of schemes and programmes like MUKTA, JAGA MISSION, AAHAR, LED Street Lighting, and Sanitation were discussed at the meeting.
