Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has converted 263 hamlets into revenue villages over the past year, with plans to convert more in the coming months, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed the State Assembly on Thursday.
A proposal to grant revenue village status to an additional 147 hamlets is currently under review, and a final decision is expected by April, Pujari said in response to a query in the House.
The Minister highlighted that modern mapping and boundary demarcation technologies are being utilized to expedite the process, which is likely to be completed within a week. Residents seeking revenue village status for their hamlets have been instructed to submit applications through their local Tehsildar.
Pujari noted that the Board of Revenue has so far declared 1,053 hamlets as revenue villages. However, due to delays in implementation during the previous government, only 307 of these villages have been updated in land records, leaving over 700 still pending.
Revenue village status enables settlements to access various state and central government welfare schemes, ensuring better infrastructure and development opportunities for residents.
