Bhubaneswar: A total of 266 recruit constables (women) from 21 districts across the State on Tuesday became eligible to join the Odisha Police after the Passing Out parade. The ten platoon parade for the 24th batch was held at Urban Police (UP) and Traffic Training Institute (TTI) at Laxmisagar area here.
Sudhanshu Sarangi, Commissioner of Police Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, chaired the event. Parade Commander Suryakant Mohanty, ACP Training UP and TTI, and Second-in-commander Bhogaban Panigrahi, RI of Police, UP, and TTI were also part of the event.
As per official communiqué released by ACP, Commissionerate Police, the women had undergone a six-month training which started on January 22, 2019. The training programme consisted of two parts- Indoor and Outdoor. The indoor part consisted of training in criminal major acts, modern India and the role of Police, Organization and administration, human rights and Police behavior towards the public, Police duties, etc. Meanwhile, the outdoor curriculum consisted of PT, drill, weapon training, training on traffic management, crowd control, lathi drill, un-armed combat, fieldcraft, yoga, etc.
Recruit constables Sajani Sahoo of Puri, Dipali Barik of Bolangir and Madhumati Balabantrai of Khurda secured the pole positions in respective order. Additionally, Parbati Sahoo of Jajpur won in the ‘Best Discipline’ category.
